Lady Gaga Warns Carly Rae Jepsen: 'I'm Coming for You' on
Hot 100
On Wednesday (July
25), Billboard.com reported that Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" logged a
seventh week at No. 1 on the Hot 100. With its continued rule,
"Maybe" rewrote the record for the longest reign for a song by a
woman signed to Interscope. The track passed Gaga's "Born This Way,"
which ruled for six weeks last year.
Among the story's
readers, apparently? Mother Monster herself, who then Tweeted her reaction:
"@carlyraejepson (sic) I SEE you just swooped in and broke my BORN THIS
WAY record of the most weeks at #1. DONT GET COMFORTABLE IM COMING FOR
YOU."
Jepsen has yet to
respond, perhaps more focused on another Interscope signee: Maroon 5 frontman
Adam Levine. Levine wryly Tweeted on July 5, "Why does she want him to
call her Maybe? Carly is a lovely name." Responded an amused, and
seemingly intrigued, Jepsen on July 10, "Dear @adamlevine make the call ;)
teehee."
A feud between Gaga
and Jepsen? Doubtful.
A budding romance
between Jepsen and Levine? Maybe.
Twitter fun among
three of Interscope's biggest artists? Definitely.
